TRIBUTE TO MY BROTHER

My brothers (Stanley, David, Antione, and Tony), there were times when it was impossible to differentiate who was keeping whom.  Were they keeping me, or was it the reverse. Regardless of who did the keeping, they all have played a significant role in me becoming the woman I am.

Today I honor Stanley, my Big Brother. My heart aches to hear your voice once again, but that will never be, for the Lord had other plans for you on September 24, 2013 (RIP).  You were my self-proclaimed protector, no one touched me without having to deal with you. I always felt your love; although I didn’t always understand your methods (threatening to kill the boys that wanted to talk to me), but I was appreciative nonetheless.

Stanley is the reason why today’s launch is so incredibly important.  My brother was instrumental in my career in technology.  My older sisters left the house when I was in grade school, so he was assigned with the task of watching me when I played outside.  He became my hero, so I tried to do everything he did. I practiced when he wasn’t around, so that I could show him what I learned when he came back home from “school.”

He would drag me around the housing projects looking for old radios, fans, clocks, shopping carts, anything busted. I would watch him clean these thing up and fix them like new.  He taught me how to make a go-cart from a grocery shopping cart and spare wood.  However, he didn’t like me messing around with his things when he wasn’t around. So before leaving for school, he would take apart his latest project, so that I couldn’t use it while he wasn’t home.

Well, I became savvy enough to put them together and use them before he got back.  One day I decided to show him my newfound skills.  I was listening to his Walk-Man when he arrived home.  He was so angry that he broke it into pieces, so that no one could use it.

As soon as he left the house, I got all of the pieces, some glue and duct tape, and the techie was born. There is so much more that I could share, and perhaps one day I may.

So today, I honor my Big Bro Stanley, Love you man, RIP.
